Long bookings: how shared kilns and multi-day jobs work in Tidewell
Not every booking fits in an afternoon. A glaze firing can take a day and a half including cooling. A big 3D print can run overnight. Until recently, members had to book these as a string of separate slots, which made the calendar unreadable.
Multi-day bookings
You can now allow multi-day bookings on any item. Set a maximum length, and optionally require host approval for anything longer than a day.
Shared bookings
Kilns are often shared: several members' pieces go into one firing. A shared booking lets one member start the firing and others add their work up to the shelf capacity you set. Everyone can see when the firing starts and when the kiln should be cool enough to open.
- Shelf capacity is set per item
- Members are told when a firing is full
- The host gets a reminder when it's time to unload
Ceramics studios asked for this more than anyone, so thank you to the potters in the Tidewell Customer Community who tested it with us over the winter.
