Pick one weekly ritual and keep it going
Communities run on rhythm. A predictable weekly moment tells members when to show up and gives quieter people an easy way in. It doesn't need to be big. It needs to happen every week.
Ideas that work
- Monday goals, where members share one thing they want to get done that week
- Friday wins, small ones very much welcome
- Show your setup, with a photo of a desk, workshop, garden or practice space
- A question of the week, posted at the same time every week
Choose one that fits your members' week. A parents' group might prefer Sunday evening planning; a makerspace might do Saturday project photos.
Consistency beats creativity
The ritual will feel repetitive to you long before it feels repetitive to members. Resist the urge to change it every month. We've run the same Friday wins thread in the Welcome Lounge for months, and it's still one of the busiest posts of the week.
If a week gets only two replies, that's fine. Reply to both. Rituals grow slowly and die quickly when the host stops showing up.
This week's task: choose one ritual, decide the day and time, and post the first one. Put a reminder in your calendar for the next eight weeks.
