Template: a pre-use safety checklist for any bookable tool
A short checklist you can copy, trim and attach to the machines in your space.
Several customers asked us for a starting point for pre-use checklists, the short list a member confirms before switching a machine on. Here's the template we've been sharing on support calls. Copy it, cut what doesn't apply and add your own.
Before you start
- I have completed the induction for this machine
- I am wearing the required protective equipment
- The work area is clear and the extraction is on
- I know where the emergency stop and the fire extinguisher are
When you finish
- The machine is switched off and cleaned
- Offcuts and waste are in the right bins
- Any fault has been reported to a host
In Tidewell, you can attach a checklist to any bookable item. Members tick it when they check in, and the record sits next to the booking, which is useful if something goes wrong later.
Keep it short. A checklist with 25 items gets ticked without reading. Six to eight items is where most spaces settle.
